Version VF (en bas de page) Only a 3-minute walk from Les Tourelles, right next to La Grande Plage, you will find Chez Coco. This is an ideal place for lunch, dinner or drinks. This is an Italian restaurant which serves fine meals at reasonable prices. The menu is varied enough to please everybody. And they have specials of the day too...which is always a good idea when you want to be surprised. I had a very tatsy chorizo pizza with a fine crust baked to perfection. Lauren fe
(VF en bas de page) Our "duty" to taste test restaurants for our guests led us to pay a visit to Le Fumoir Marin. What an enjoyable surprise! The cooking is refined whilst still remaining simple and authentic, which can be difficult to achieve! There are only 3 main courses on offer*: the Assiette du Fumoir, the Filet de Bar (seabass) and the Pork Ribs. I chose the iconic Assiette du Fumoir, which samples 10 pieces of smoked, marinated, grilled and roasted fish/sea food . A
Version VF (en bas de page) Located on the Avenue de Verdun, a short walk from Les Tourelles, Helbidea is a friendly bistro serving a menu based on key ingredients from the Basque region. It’s a great way to explore local Basque cuisine, and it’s perfect for the whole family too!
We recommend the plancha, which comprised of a taloa (traditional savoury pancake), Ossau Iraty cheese from the region, and Bayonne ham. Bistro classics like the duck confit were also a success, alo
Biarritz is a well-known surfing spot. At any time of the year, you can observe some surfers making the most of the waves. If you are an avid surfer, this makes Les Tourelles in Biarritz the perfect location for your holiday. If you’re an amateur surfer, the same still applies. There are a plethora of ways to enjoy surf and the fantastic waves in Biarritz! There are many different organisations that offer surf lessons: here are two that offer a range of different services for
Version FR en bas Chez Mattin is a hidden gem of a restaurant in Ciboure. Despite its simple exterior, inside the decor is warm and cosy, and the food sophisticated. The menu is well thought through, with lots of local basque flavours. There are always special starters, mains and desserts on offer outside of the set menu for some surprises. We particularly enjoyed the veal: it was served perfectly cooked with a chanterelle mushroom ‘ketchup’ (mushrooms cooked with a variety o
Version FR en bas St-Jean-de-Luz is a characteristically Basque town with a buzzing central street and lots to see and do. Most tourists will enjoy its beach and blue-green sea. But did you know that it’s also home to the Lopez ice cream trucks?
All seaside towns sell ice cream, but Lopez is a hidden gem. Their ice cream is sold in recognisable trucks, and in four locations in the town. As a result, each truck offers different flavours of sorbet and ice cream (but fear not
(Français: voir plus bas) Nestled on top of the Col d’Ibardin, Venta Mendimendia boasts gorgeous views of the Basque coast (you can spot Biarritz!), the Rhune montain and the rolling hills in between. To accompany this view, a varied and reasonably-priced lunch menu awaits (starter; main; desert). The food here is simple and traditional, a mix of French and Spanish flavours - to be expected when flirting the border of the two countries. We particularly enjoyed the lamb chops
(Version Française en bas) L’Horizon is a lovely little restaurant boasting a relaxing atmosphere and a view of the Juan-les-Pins beach. Although unassuming, the restaurant excels in its specialities: fresh seafood and paellas. We highly recommend the daurade (sea bream) served with homemade mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables and an aromatic olive oil/herb sauce to seal the deal! Another favourite was the duo of scallops and gambas (large prawns), with its special ginger,
(Version Française en bas) Conveniently located a 2 min walk from the house, the Bistrot Pim’pi is one of our favorite addresses in Biarritz. The atmosphere of this small restaurant is warm and the service very pleasant.
The menu reflects local and seasonal flavors, so we tasted delicious fish rillettes, followed by a tasty prime rib with homemade fries and an intriguing pistachio and grapefruit pie. Situé à deux pas de la maison, le Bistrot Pim’pi est une de nos adresses pr
(Français: voir plus bas) Ideally situated in a quiet area by the sea, the Golden Beef is an aptly- named steakhouse. Inside, the dark lighting makes for an intimate atmosphere, perfect for conversations with friends and family. We tried out -and thoroughly enjoyed- the beef tagliatta, a plate of sliced meat topped with Parmesan, accompanied by rocket salad. Others had more traditional meat dishes -skewers and rump steak- that were delicious nonetheless. The selection of sauc
(En Français au bas du post) Biarritz has a well-developed culinary scene which will fit any taste. Our first review is for Le O2 Verdun located a mere 30 metres from the house which is incredibly convenient. They serve delicious traditional dishes such as Spanish-style cod with chorizo and perfectly cooked catch of the day, pictured below. The deserts were scrumptious as well and it was difficult to only pick one. I chose their take on the Poire Belle-Helene and it was absol
(Français: voir plus bas) Easily recognisable with its art deco exterior, the Aquarium of Biarritz is the ideal place for a family outing, as young and old alike can enjoy seeing a great variety of sea creatures. From jellyfish to sharks and fish native to the Basque region, there is something for everyone (our personal favourite are the turtles!). There is also a section of the museum which presents information about the history of fishing on the Atlantic coast. After the vi

One of the highlights of Cannes is the Musée de la Castre which is conveniently located a 5 min walk away from the Suquet apartments and a 25 min walk away from the Festival flat. The museum, which is housed in a medieval castle, is separated into three parts. The first part is composed of a few rooms showcasing a rich collection of ethnographical objects from various civilizations (think ancient Egypt, Tibet and Vanuatu), whilst the second section focuses on 19th century Fre

This renowned city offers a plethora of shopping and dining options as well as the iconic Croisette beach and the Palais des Festivals. We are offering three new apartments: Le Suquet 1, Suquet 2 and Le Festival.
The first two are one-bedroom apartments located in the historic district of Suquet and a short walk from major tourist sites such as
To help you navigate the numerous restaurants in Cannes, we have started to test them as we usually do in Antibes and Juan-Les-Pins. For our first , we were definitely not disappointed! We started with perfectly cooked rump steak cuts . We then tried their speciality desert, the Crêpes Suzette. Pictured below is the chef in action! It tasted as good as it looked. Three main features define the Grill & Wines experience: French cuisine, a warm atmosphere and reasonable price. T
