Where to eat in Biarritz: La Marine bar-brasserie

Looking for something to eat in Biarritz? Look no further than La Marine, a bar-brasserie ideally situated in Rue Mazagran, a place where you’ll probably find yourselves doing some shopping anyways!

La Marine is a humble brasserie that offers some really excellent, quality dishes, making it one of our top choices of restaurants in Biarritz (so far – we haven’t tested all of them yet!). To start off our meal, we ordered the Chips n’ Dips, a copious offering of four deliciously homemade dips (hummus, guacamole, salmon and sun-dried tomato) to scoop and enjoy with chips and crunchy toasts. It’s a great dish to share among friends (there’s a lot of dip – never a bad thing!) and we highly recommend you try it.

Next - for the main course - La Marine has a wide variety of dishes to offer, catering to all tastes (including veggie dishes). We tried the honey- and aniseed-glazed pork with mashed potatoes, which was a great choice: the meat was cooked perfectly and had that sweet glaze for a slightly different experience. The salmon tartare with frites, and the côte de boeuf (beef prime rib) which we also had were equally delicious – though perhaps more traditional.

As you can imagine, after all this food, we weren’t hungry enough to try out the desserts, though we recommend you do based on the quality of the starters and mains. If you do try any, let us know and we will update this page!

Now, if the location and food alone haven’t convinced you yet, La Marine’s ambiance is the cherry on top: they have decorated the inside of the restaurant with lots of vinyls, creating a musical atmosphere. It’s a great place to be and eat, so we hope you’ll give it a try!
